Silverband Falls, fed by Dairy Creek, was named by European settlers for the narrow and silvery band of water that tumbles down the rock face.
Unlike most waterfalls, there is no plunge pool at the base. Instead, the water immediately disappears into the deep streambed of gravel and rocks at the base of the falls and reemerges about 50 meters (164 feet) downstream. In drier conditions the streambed appears to be completely dry.
