Saint Mary Lake, Sunrise, Glacier National Park

Extremely windy and cold weather with light rain and heavy clouds greeted us on this late
September morning. It certainly did not look like a morning for photography. I found the location I
had previously
scouted and set up my camera anyway, because anything can happen and often does.
I was happy and incredibly cold when warm sunlight began emerging through gaps between
the clouds. Then I realized none of it would be in my composition, and instead of
Wild goose Island and sunlit peaks, Saint Mary Lake was full of white capped waves. I had to
change my location and quickly compose a completely different photograph before
the light faded. Tripping the
camera's shutter between ferocious wind gusts netted a couple of sharp images.
This is one of them.
