Platforms made of sharp and jagged volcanic rock are common on Victoria's coastline. At low tide many of them are dry and contain pools with sea creatures trapped in them until the next high tide. Exploring these areas can be quite interesting but it's critical to leave long before the first waves break over the platform's edge. Rogue waves, three to four times the average height of the waves at the time are also common, so wearing a flotation device is reccommended.
