The noisy miner (Manorina melanocephala) is a bird in the honeyeater family, and is endemic to eastern and southeastern Australia. They can be very annoying due to their constant vocalizations and large colony sizes, but their main problem is the impact they have on other bird species. Both problems arise from a dramatic increase in noisy miner population due to the creation of favorable habitat by humans. Large numbers of these bold, curious, and obnoxious birds will mob any other bird they find in their territory. These mobs kill small birds and force larger birds to leave. See this six minute YouTube video for a better understanding of the problem.
