I captured this photograph in the rain during my first visit to this waterfall. The rain was fairly intense, with very brief periods during which it would become lighter. There was just one tiny spot from which a mostly unobstructed view could be had if I stood on my toes. Ostacles and vegetation made setting up a camera on a tripod quite time consuming. Once done, it was a matter of waiting for those short periods of lighter rain and capturing images before they ended. I was probably doing this for at least 30 minutes before the rain intensified and made the situation intolerable.

I can't say it was fun, but being here in the rain was a fortunate accident. The shadowless light produced by heavy clouds and the wet iron hued rock surfaces produced incredible color, especially when surface reflections were minimized with a polarizing filter. Without the rain and cloud cover this photograph would be far more ordinary.
