Green River Canyon and Juniper, 1987
This scene was photographed on film in 1987 as the sun briefly illuminated the Green River through a break in the clouds.
A
centuries old juniper was present to witnesses the event. Clinging to bare rock, junipers like
this one can live over 600 years in the harsh environment. Even that is not long
enough to see a significant change in the landscape, unless humans invade.
