Fisher Towers in Snow
The sight of Fisher Towers in this much snow is a fairly rare one. Capturing
this photograph required a 30 mile (48 km) drive on
a narrow, winding, and hilly road that
was covered with about 8 inches (20 cm) of snow and ice. It was difficult to know where the edge of the road was,
and slippery. The road is on the bank of the Colorado River, often with a
vertical wall on one side and the river on the other, so it was a bit of a
white knuckle drive, and one I will remember. It began snowing again during the drive but stopped shortly after I arrived at this
vantage point. I spent about 90 minutes waiting for the background to clear enough
to show part of the La Sal Mountain Range. Before I left the location about 15 miles of the road was
plowed, making my trip back
to Moab more enjoyable.
