This Sangre de Cristo mountains are the southernmost subrange of North America's Rocky Mountains. Several of the peaks rise to over 4,300 meters (14,000 feet). At 750 feet (229 meters) the sand dunes are the tallest in North America.
This photograph was made on a very windy evening. Having lost much of the vision in my viewfinder eye on the way here, along with some associated discomfort, I struggled to capture the image. The full story is here.
