Dandenong Ranges National Park is a land of rolling hills, steeply weathered
valleys, and gullies covered in thick temperate rainforest. The forest itself
consists predominantly of tall mountain ash trees towering over natural fern
gullies. These forests provide a home for 130 native bird species including
kookaburras, cockatoos, crimson rosellas, and superb lyrebirds. Mammals include
swamp wallabies, wombats, echidnas, sugar gliders, platypuses, and 26 others.
