Clearing Storm, Eastern Mountains, Victoria, Australia
A storm that produced nearly a week of rain and snow moves away. The
moisture left behind is transpired by vegetation in addition to direct
evaporation,
producing fog that rises from the forest. Such fog usually vanishes or
"burns off" quickly as temperatures warm, but on this occasion it continued
until past noon. This viewing position faces the sun, which was high above
the horizon when this photograph was captured. That produced very high contrast
in the scene and made me wish my eyes were as well shielded from the sun as
my camera lens.
