Textures in Snow, Book Cliffs
I was in the Book Cliffs area to photograph something else,
but immediately found myself amazed by the textures brought out on the
eroded sides of the cliffs by the previous evening's snow. This photograph
is my favorite of the many I captured on that cold morning.
The Book Cliffs are a remote area of 2.4 million acres (971,246 ha)
that spans Utah and Colorado. It falls under the jurisdiction of the the
U.S. BLM (Bureau of Land Management). The area is roughly 240 miles
long from west to east, beginning in the west on the Wasatch Plateau near the
town of Price, Utah, and terminating in the east in the arid canyons north
of Grand Junction, Colorado.
