Rocky Domain, Big Horn Ram

Big horn sheep navigate Montana's rocky cliffs as easily as we walk on level ground. Rams weigh 150 to 250 pounds and stand about three feet high at the shoulders while ewes weigh 123 to 200 pounds. Massive horns make up approximately ten percent of a ram's body weight. Ewes have smaller and straighter spike-like horns. Bighorns eat over 100 different types of plants, feeding in meadows, open woodland and alpine tundra. They often retreat to rest on inaccessible cliffs like the one shown in the image above.
