Roseate spoonbills (platalea ajaja) reside in South America east of the Andes, in coastal regions of the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, and the Gulf Coast of the United States. Like flamingos, the spoonbill's color comes from their diet and varies from pale pink to bright magenta depending on the bird's location and age. Roseate spoonbills live up to 16 years in the wild.
