Angel Arch, Morning, Canyonlands National Park

Angel Arch is one of the most spectacular arches to be found anywhere. This image shows the arch as it was captured on a crystal clear morning just after sunrise. Angel Arch is named for the rock formation on its right side, which shows a clearly defined and detailed profile of an angel. With a good imagination you can see the angel's wings, head, hair, eyes, mouth, robe, and even her folded arms. Although it is not the largest to be found, the 150 foot high arch perched on the rim of Salt Creek Canyon is an impressive sight.
