Waterpocket Fold, Evening

This image shows the western side of the Waterpocket Fold in warm evening sunlight. The Waterpocket Fold s a nearly 100 mile long fold in the earth's surface that runs north-south from Thousand Lake Mountain down to Lake Powell. Along the fold, rocks have been pushed upward and erosion has cut through the layers, creating deep narrow canyons and incredible rock formations.
