Portrait, Mountain Goat
The mountain goat (Oreamnos americanus) lives in steep and broken mountain ranges of northwestern North America. Its range extends from Idaho and Washington to South-central Alaska. Mountain goats feed on alpine grasses and flowers, as well as almost any tree or shrub. The rutting season occurs between November and early January and young are born in May or June. The greatest cause of death for these mountain dwellers is falling accidents.
