Greater Sulfur Crested Cockatoos (Cacatua galerita) are large parrots, and the largest and best
known of all Cockatoos. They are between 44 – 51 cm (17 - 20 inches) in length, with a wingspan of up to 103
cm (40.6 inches) and a weight of about 0.9 kg (2 pounds). They are
native to eastern Australia from Cape York to Tasmania, and have been introduced
to places like Indonesia, and the Palau Islands. When alarmed the cockatoo's crest opens up like a fan,
and their call is amazingly loud.
