Sunrise, Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

This image captures a fleeting moment at sunrise on a rainy day in Capitol Reef National Park. The colors seen here lasted only long enough for a single exposure before they began to fade. The Henry Mountains are seen in the distance, with the rugged canyon country of Capitol Reef in the foreground. Capitol Reef was established as a national monument on August 2, 1937, and became a national park on December 18, 1971. It preserves a wide variety of desert plants, mammals, reptiles, birds, and insects, along with its remarkable scenery.
