Realm of Enchanted Stone, Bisti Wilderness, New Mexico

New Mexico's Bisti wilderness is a pathless barren land of fragile and oddly eroded stone and clay formations. It is not a land of grand first impressions. Many will find nothing but vastness and desolation here. Even those willing to explore will often find little more. This place reveals itself only to those who forget their expectations and learn how to see it.
.
In English "Bisti" is pronounced BIS-tie. It is derived from the Navajo language and means "between the hills". The word also refers to the kind of clay found in the area.
