Seven Deer, Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park
On a rainy morning in early spring, the mist and colors in this view of Cades Cove captured my interest. Heavy rain obscured distant detail lending a painterly quality to the bright spring greens and amber tones of the past winter. While trying to decide on a composition, seven deer filed out of the woods and evenly spaced themselves in a line, making the decision for me. I switched to a 300mm lens and made two exposures before the deer wandered away.
