A Different Kind of Custom Printing Service

If you want the highest quality possible in your custom printed images, and wish you could get them made by someone you can communicate with directly and who actually cares how your prints look, you may be interested in what follows.

We can provide true exhibition quality prints from your image files along with highly personalized service. As a client you receive all of the benefits that 38 years of photography experience and 12 years of digital printing experience can provide. We will print your images as if they were our own, on state of the art equipment, and you will have ample opportunity to communicate with us by email and telephone, or in person if you live nearby, regarding your images and prints.

We are not a fast turnaround, high volume, bargain basement photo lab. In fact we are not a photo lab at all, nor do we want to be. But we own a bunch of very good equipment, have the knowledge to use it, and enjoy making prints. Because Dean does all of the Photoshop and printing work himself and he wants to continue enjoying it, we accept only a few printing jobs during any given month. The time it takes to finish a job depends on how large and complex it is, and other things going on here, but we turn most jobs around in less than a week. Since we are away on photo shoots for several weeks several times each year there will be some months when we will not accept any printing jobs at all. But if we accept a job we will finish it before we leave. Our business schedule for the near term can be seen here.
.
While this is not a workshop or mentoring program, if we see problems in the files you provide that could have been avoided during image capture or processing, we will let you know what they are and how they might be avoided in the future. Similarly, if you are unsure about some aspect of photography related to an image we are handling, please ask about it.

.

The service we provide can vary widely according to your needs. We can convert and optimize your RAW format files, or we can simply print the JPEG files produced by your camera. If required we can review an image with you online or in person, and then optimize and print it accordingly, supplying the optimized Photoshop files along with the prints. If you want to optimize and soft proof your own image we will provide our printer profiles for this purpose. The choices are yours, and there is some obvious learning potential here for anyone new to digital imaging. The cost of these services obviously varies widely too, so if you need something non-standard we will provide a quote.

If you have read everything above and are interested in working with us, we sincerely look forward to hearing from you.

Photograph Restoration and Reproduction

The restoration and reproduction of old or damaged photographs is an interest of ours. We have successfully restored numerous damaged  photographs ranging from World War 1 images to old baby photos. Because the amount of work required to restore a damaged photograph can vary tremendously, we will provide a quote based on the photograph. Restoration work is charged at an hourly rate of $38 with a minimum charge of $38. It takes between one and two hours to restore most photographs. Restoration does not include printing the restored work. See the table above for the cost of prints based on size. Inquire.
