San Juan Convolution, Goosenecks of the San Juan River
San Juan Convolution

The San Juan River glows at the bottom of a convoluted canyon system in San Juan County, Utah. Here the river meanders through a number of goosenecks, flowing more than five miles while progressing just one linear mile toward the Colorado River and Lake Powell. This image was captured well after the sun had set, while the western horizon still had a soft red glow.
