| This butterfly is known by several names including Common Rose and Malayan Rose. It's scientific name is Pachliopta aristolochiae asteris. This butterfly is found throughout Indonesia, Malaysia, and in parts of China. The Malayan Rose is one of 1,013 butterfly species found in Peninsular Malaysia. This image was captured using a flash to freeze the motion of the butterfly, which is hovering while lightly touching the flower to drink its nectar. | |||
