Fall Snow, Uncompahgre National Forest, Colorado
At an elevation of more than 13,000 feet, snows come early on Imogene Pass. This scene, taken in mid-September, was photographed a few days after an early fall snow. The San Juan Mountains in Colorado's Uncompahgre National Forest are among the most beautiful and rugged in the United States. Unfortunately, rapid development and lack of protected status threaten this incredible place.
