The Art Gallery in historic
downtown Willoughby: After having a large and varying display of
over 40 framed prints and over 80 smaller matted images at the Art
Gallery since November 2012, we are changing things around again. By
late May I'll have swapped out a number of framed prints to keep
things interesting, and the display will be considerably smaller and may be moved to a different part
of the gallery. Later on we'll again change out some larger prints
and we'll have a huge selection of small matted prints available
inside the Art Gallery in time for the Willoughby ArtsFest on July
20. My wife and I will spend part of that afternoon at the
gallery, so feel free to stop in and say hello. |
| The
Art Gallery also offers very competitive prices on a huge variety of custom
matting and framing options along with countless other fine art items
by local artists. Stop in and check out
all of the great artwork. The Art Gallery is located a few doors
down from the Arabica coffee shop at 4134 Erie Street. You can also
give them a call at 440-946-8001.

I'm excited to
be at the
Cain Park Arts Festival
on July 12, 13, and 14. This fantastic arts festival has been consistently
ranked among the top juried festivals in the United States by the national
professional artist magazine, Sunshine Artist. It's a top quality
show in a beautiful park setting that's second to none, and it's my
all-time favorite venue. Music in the
Evans Amphitheatre, great food catered by area restaurants, and 150
artists make it easy to have a great time. It's a fun show, even for
the artists! Ample parking is
available at the Cleveland Heights City Hall and you can ride Lolly
the Trolley to and from the festival free on Saturday and Sunday.
The show hours are:
...Friday....... 3-8 PM (free
admission)
...Saturday.. 10 AM - 8 PM ($5
admission, children 12 yrs and younger free)
...Sunday.... Noon - 5 PM ($5
admission, children 12 yrs and younger free)
For more details and directions check the

The Art Gallery in historic
downtown Willoughby, Ohio held an opening for artist Brian
Jones and I on November 30 from 6:30 PM until 9:00 PM. My
thanks goes to everyone who attended. My prints will be in the
gallery through December and into the New Year. |

The
South Wing Gallery at St. Paul's Episcopal Church from September 14
to December 2 will feature the work of four artists including
myself. This magnificent English Gothic church has been a landmark
in the Cleveland area since the construction of its 125 foot tall
tower was completed in 1929. The south wing of the church has been
operated as a gallery for more than 20 years and features
three to four shows annually. The opening reception is on Friday
September 14 from 5 PM - 7 PM at 2747 Fairmount Blvd, Cleveland, OH
44106.

The 33rd annual
East Shore Invitational Art Show
was held on November 10 and 11 in Kirtland, Ohio. My thanks goes to
the organizers for the hard work that makes it so easy for the artists.
This is a show I enjoy doing and I hope to be back again next year.

The West Woods
Nature Arts Festival
was
held on August
4 and 5. I was be the show's featured artist this year which gave my
wife Lee and I a great space in the nature center. We were both
happy for that on Sunday morning when a big storm with heavy rains
moved through. I'm told the raffle for my
Eastern
Amberwing dragonfly print raised
quite a bit of money for the Geauga County park system's nature education and conservation
programs, so I'm happy about the results. Our thanks goes to
everyone who stopped by our exhibit.

The
Cain Park Arts Festival
on July 13 - 15 was a great show for us this year in spite of a
gloomy and mostly incorrect weekend weather forecast. Friday and
Saturday were warm and dry, though we did endure an hour of heavy
rain on Sunday afternoon. Fortunately our tent kept the rain out
like it's supposed to and the crowd was back in force as soon as the
rain stopped. Our thanks goes to everyone who stopped by at our
booth, especially those who braved the rain and heat after it
stopped on Sunday. |

Art by the
Falls 2012
was held on on June
9 and 10. This was our third year at Art by the Falls. As usual it
was a wonderful show, but this year we enjoyed clear blue skies
along with some dust, and it seemed like attendance was through the
roof! Our thanks to Kirk, the entire Valley Art Center staff, and
all of the people who stopped by at our booth for making this show
such a success.

Valley Art Center 40th Annual Juried Exhibition:
Every year the
Valley Art Center in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, invites artists within a
250-mile radius to submit their work to be considered for this
gallery exhibit. The result is a wonderful collection of local
talent, showcasing many mediums. I was proud to have my work in the
exhibit again this year and I hope you had a chance to stop in. The
opening reception was Friday November 4th from 6 pm - 8 pm and is
always free
and open to the public. The show ran until December 14th.
Valley Art Center is located at 155 Bell Street, Chagrin Falls, Ohio
44022. Gallery hours are 10 am – 4 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am – 2
pm Saturday.

The 32nd
East Shore Invitational Art Show on November 12 and 13 was
wonderful, and one of the best organized events around. I hope you
were able to attend, but if not I hope we'll see you there next
year. |

Our first time ever at
The West Woods
Nature Arts Festival couldn't have been better. I was honored to
receive the 2011 "best of show" award, and I'll return in 2012 as
the festival's featured artist. This is a unique show because all of
the artwork is nature oriented and the show proceeds help further
nature education and conservation in the Geauga County park system.
I hope you’ll plan to attend next August. |

We spent July 16, the day of the Willoughby ArtsFest at the Art Gallery.
We had a good time, and the day was topped off by meeting an old
high school friend I hadn't seen in about 40 years. For those in the
area who might not know, the Art Gallery is on Erie Street, right
in the middle of historic downtown Willoughby, Ohio. They have lots
of unique things, from painting to sculpture to clothing, to
photography. Check it out sometime! |

We had warm
days and blue skies for the Cain Park Arts
Festival in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, this year. We met some
wonderful people among the other artists and show attendees, in
addition to seeing a few old friends. With about 150 artists from
around the world there was some amazing art at the show, and as
always the Cain Park staff made the show a joy to participate in.

The Waterloo 7
Gallery in Willoughby Hills, Ohio, hosted a great indoor and outdoor
art show on Sunday June 26. As always, there were numerous works in
the gallery, including a few of mine, and artist's displaying their
work in tents outside the gallery. It was a nice sunny day (for a
change) and everyone had a great time. |

Art by the
Falls 2011 on June 11 and 12 turned out great in spite of
threatening weather that ranged from sweltering on Saturday to cold
and breezy on Sunday. The Valley Art Center staff, who work their
tails off behind the scenes every year, make Art by the Falls a
success for everyone. Given the quality of all the the paintings,
drawings, prints, and photographs displayed by artists from across
the United States, I was very happy to receive the third place award
for 2-dimensional art this year. My wife, Lee, deserves credit for
her perfectionist-level archival mounting and matting of all the
photographs. No one notices a great matting job but everybody
notices a bad one. She also takes care of all the "business stuff"
that makes everything happen. |

A large
exhibition of my images titled "Photographs from American Parklands"
ran for the month of May 2011 at the Cleveland Metroparks North
Chagrin Nature Center. We got a lots of great comments, people
seemed to enjoy it, and some learned a little about the diversity of
America's remaining natural landscape and its wildlife. That was the
point of doing the exhibit, so I think it was a success. My thanks
to the Cleveland Metroparks and everyone who works at the North
Chagrin Nature Center for hosting this. |
