Eastern Amberwing on Water Lily
 
   
  In the height of summer dragonflies abound in the marshes and wetlands of northeastern Ohio, as do water lilies. This eastern amberwing (Perithemis tenera) takes a rest on a petal of the lily, briefly complimenting its yellow center before flying off. This is the only species of Perithemis found in northern North America.
